Toyota's WEC title fight goes to the wire at Monza
The FIA World Endurance Championship heads to Monza for a six-hour race that serves as the season finale after the Bahrain and Qatar rounds were cancelled due to the regional conflict in the Middle East. Toyota Gazoo Racing has already secured the manufacturers' title, but the drivers' championship remains open.
Sebastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Ryo Hirakawa lead teammates Mike Conway, Nyck de Vries and Kamui Kobayashi by 17 points. Kobayashi has confirmed Toyota will not impose team orders, meaning the #8 crew needs at least second place to keep its title hopes alive. The weekend also marks Conway's final professional race for the Japanese manufacturer.
In LMGT3, the #33 TF Sport Corvette holds an 18-point lead in the teams' standings, putting Jonny Edgar in position to clinch the drivers' title outright.
