Kubica fastest in drying Monza second practice
Robert Kubica set the pace in a drying second practice for the 6 Hours of Monza, the FIA World Endurance Championship finale, driving the AF Corse Ferrari 499P. Times fell rapidly in the final minutes as the track dried and teams fitted slick tyres. Kubica's 1:38.143 was nearly eight seconds quicker than the morning's wet FP1 benchmark and around eight tenths clear of the next car.
Harry Tincknell, in the No. 007 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Valkyrie, was second on the leaderboard, while Raffaele Marciello moved the No. 15 WRT BMW M Hybrid V8 into third in the closing seconds. Victor Martins had briefly looked set to top the timesheets for Alpine, but finished fourth in the No. 36 Signatech Alpine A424. Antonio Fuoco was the quickest factory Ferrari in seventh, and Theo Pourchaire was eighth in the best Peugeot 9X8.
Toyota had no car in the top ten, with the best TR010 Hybrid, driven by Ryo Hirakawa, finishing 12th. The next practice session is scheduled for Saturday at 10:30 a.m. CET.
