Kubica quickest in Monza FP2 for AF Corse
Robert Kubica set the fastest time in Free Practice 2 for the 6 Hours of Monza, the FIA World Endurance Championship season finale. The 90-minute session started wet, but the track dried enough in the closing stages for most of the field, led by the #32 Team WRT BMW M4 LMGT3 Evo, to switch to slick tyres, prompting a rapid improvement in lap times.
Kubica set a 1:38.143 in his #83 AF Corse Ferrari 499P on his final push. Harry Tincknell was second, 0.796 seconds behind in the #007 Aston Martin THOR Team Valkyrie, ahead of Raffaele Marciello in the #15 BMW M Team WRT Hybrid V8. Victor Martins was fourth in the #36 Alpine A424 after switching to slicks.
In LMGT3, Proton Competition's Ford Mustang LMGT3 Evos finished first and second, with Sebastian Priaulx setting a 1:50.352 to beat teammate Logan Sargeant by 0.087 seconds. The session was free of red flags, with a single Full Course Yellow shortly before the halfway mark. Free Practice 3 is scheduled for 10:30 CEST the following morning.
