Lietz says he feels more at home in LMGT3 WEC era

Richard Lietz says he feels "more at home" in the current LMGT3 era of the FIA World Endurance Championship as he prepares to make his 100th WEC start this weekend. The Austrian, a two-time WEC GT class champion and six-time Le Mans class winner with Porsche, becomes only the second driver to reach the milestone after Sebastien Buemi.

Lietz said he has enjoyed the championship's growth, noting that it is now more crowded and booming with manufacturers arriving, after times when competition and spectator numbers were lower. He has been a Porsche factory driver for around 20 years and said he has enjoyed the last 100 races.

Lietz had considered retiring after the factory GTE-Pro programme ended, but was asked by the Manthey team to return. He said he has since enjoyed working with Pro-Am crews in the LMGT3 format, including FIA Bronze-rated drivers and rising talents.
