Pourchaire's 2027 Peugeot Hypercar place uncertain
Théo Pourchaire is not guaranteed a race seat with Peugeot's Hypercar programme in 2027, as the 23-year-old focuses on his new Formula E drive with Opel. Pourchaire would be the third confirmed departure from the French manufacturer, following Malthe Jakobsen and Stoffel Vandoorne. Peugeot is set to welcome Robert Shwartzman and Jean-Éric Vergne, with Alex Quinn also introduced for next season.
Reflecting on his first full year as a professional works driver, Pourchaire said he had learned a great deal, even though results had been difficult. He has shared the #94 9X8 with Jakobsen and Loïc Duval. He would still like to return to Peugeot's WEC programme one day, as Opel and Peugeot are both part of the Stellantis family.
Team principal Emmanuel Esnault said the target is a top-five finish at Monza, where the car's braking stability suits the circuit's corner profile. Quinn was given the final two rounds after Vandoorne's departure, as the team saw more to gain from his step up from LMP2 than from an early Shwartzman debut.
