Milesi tops wet opening practice at Monza
Charles Milesi set the fastest time in a rain-soaked first Free Practice session for the FIA World Endurance Championship season-ending 6 Hours of Monza, lapping in the No. 35 Alpine A424 with a 1:45.862. The Frenchman improved late in the 90-minute session as the track began to dry, finishing 0.401 seconds ahead of Yifei Ye in the No. 83 AF Corse Ferrari 499P. Ye's co-driver Phil Hanson had led for most of the session.
Harry Tincknell was third in the No. 007 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Valkyrie, ahead of Alpine's Victor Martins and James Calado in the No. 51 Ferrari. Three red flags interrupted the session, including one for James Cottingham's No. 91 Manthey Porsche after an incident at Lesmo 2, which was placed under investigation.
In LMGT3, Tom Fleming set the pace in the No. 10 Garage 59 McLaren 720S GT3 Evo with a 1:57.575. Second practice is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CET, with cold and wet conditions expected to continue.
