Milesi tops wet FP1 at Monza
Alpine Endurance Team's Charles Milesi was fastest in the opening Free Practice session for the 6 Hours of Monza, held in wet conditions on the World Endurance Championship's return to the Temple of Speed. Milesi set a best time of 1:45.862 in his #35 Alpine in the final moments of the 90-minute session, as the track dried and drivers made late improvements.
AF Corse's Robert Kubica had been near the top for much of the session, setting a 1:47.738 in the #83 Ferrari 499P, but grip dropped and nobody could challenge his time until the pace picked up in the last 10 minutes. Aston Martin THOR Team's Harry Tincknell then traded the top spot with the Alpines of Milesi and Victor Martins before the flag.
In LMGT3, Tom Fleming set the fastest time in the #10 McLaren LMGT3 Evo with a 1:57.575. Three red flags interrupted the session, and the #92 Manthey Porsche completed only three laps all session.
