Rafael Camara set for Haas F1 debut at Sao Paulo Grand Prix
Rafael Camara will make his Formula 1 race debut at his home grand prix in Sao Paulo, replacing Esteban Ocon at Haas for the rest of the Interlagos weekend alongside Oliver Bearman. Haas had already signed the 21-year-old to a multi-year deal to join full-time from 2027, but Ocon's removal following internal disputes at the Mexico City Grand Prix has brought his arrival forward by more than a year.
Camara arrives with a strong junior record, having won the 2024 Formula Regional European Championship with Prema and the 2025 FIA Formula 3 title with Trident. He is currently leading the Formula 2 standings with Invicta, with three victories and seven podiums from 25 starts. Weather could complicate his weekend, with thunderstorms forecast for qualifying on Saturday and a rain risk for Sunday's race start.
It remains unclear whether Camara or Ryo Hirakawa will take the Haas seat for the final rounds in Las Vegas, Qatar and Abu Dhabi, given Camara's ongoing Formula 2 commitments.
