Camara admits 'a lot to learn' before Haas F1 debut in Sao Paulo
Rafael Camara says there is "a lot to learn" as he prepares to make his Formula 1 debut at this weekend's Sao Paulo Grand Prix, replacing Esteban Ocon at Haas. Reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa had been drafted in for the Mexico City round, but he will step aside for Camara, who is set to race for Haas next season and is currently leading the F2 standings.
Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu said Camara impressed during a two-day test in the team's 2025 car at Portimao, where he showed strong pace and an ability to handle pressure. Camara will line up alongside Ollie Bearman, who is looking to end a run of retirements in the United States and Mexico.
Bearman raced for Haas at Sao Paulo in 2024 as a late replacement for Kevin Magnussen, and he said the team's focus is on scoring points as the season reaches its final stages.
