Piastri says he could not have done more to avoid Lindblad clash in Mexico City
Oscar Piastri has said he could not have done much more to avoid the collision with Arvid Lindblad at the Mexico City Grand Prix, which led to a 10-second penalty that dropped him from seventh to 13th.
Piastri had started 12th after a Q2 exit and made up ground early on, passing Franco Colapinto and Lindblad before a stoppage caused by Valtteri Bottas's crash on Lap 44. On the restart Lindblad regained the position, and when Piastri attempted a move around the outside of Turn 1 the two cars made contact going into Turn 2.
The stewards ruled that Piastri had not claimed the corner and was therefore responsible for avoiding contact. Piastri said he had been trying to concede the position and was already off the track, adding that he was disappointed to leave the weekend without points.
