Cadillac confirms fix after Valtteri Bottas suspension failure in Mexico
Cadillac team boss Marcin Budkowski has confirmed the team has implemented mitigations after Valtteri Bottas suffered a suspension failure at the Mexico City Grand Prix. Bottas crashed at around 200mph when his front-left suspension buckled under heavy braking for Turn 1 on lap 41 of Sunday's race.
The run-off area and barriers reduced the speed and dissipated much of the impact energy, although Bottas was visibly shaken. It is the second suspension failure for Cadillac in its maiden campaign, following Sergio Perez's front-right corner failure at the Canadian Grand Prix, which happened under minimal braking load.
Despite the failure, Cadillac allowed Perez to complete the race in the sister car after the red flag period. Bottas said he is looking forward to returning to action at Interlagos.
