Milesi narrowly misses Hyperpole sweep at Monza
Alpine Endurance Team's Charles Milesi came one position short of becoming the only driver to reach Hyperpole in every race this season, qualifying the #35 A424 11th on the grid. He said the conditions were difficult and that some cars completed an extra lap, which affected the outcome. Milesi also explained that the teams were effectively tuning their cars during qualifying, as there had been no dry running beforehand.
Looking ahead to the race, Milesi expects strategy to be a key factor, as no one has dry-weather experience with these cars. He added that Turn 1 could produce surprises, as seen at Barcelona with cold tyres.
Sébastien Bourdais, who makes his final start with Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA this weekend, has no confirmed drive for 2027, although talks are ongoing. He also discussed the FIA Driver Categorisation system, which keeps him at Platinum until he is 55.
