Lietz nears 100th WEC start at Monza with Manthey
Porsche factory driver Richard Lietz is set to reach his 100th FIA World Endurance Championship start at Monza this weekend. The Austrian, who has won four class titles at Le Mans and two WEC championships, said he had only realised the milestone was approaching earlier in the week.
Lietz has raced exclusively for Porsche in the WEC since the series began in 2012, missing only the 2023 campaign apart from a single Le Mans appearance and three other rounds. His career has followed the championship's GT categories, from the GTE Pro factory programme to the Pro/Am LMGT3 format introduced in 2024. He said he now feels happier than at any previous point in his career, particularly with Manthey, which he described as more of a family set-up.
