Heart of Racing Valkyrie loses Monza fourth over energy breach
The No. 007 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Valkyrie of Harry Tincknell and Tom Gamble has been stripped of its fourth-place finish in Sunday's 6 Hours of Monza. A stewards' bulletin issued on Sunday evening confirmed the penalty, which was for breaching technical regulations by not respecting the energy limit per stint.
The car was given a 100-second stop-and-hold penalty, converted into a 145-second post-race time penalty. The team had been on course for its first WEC podium after Gamble's late-race pass on the No. 51 AF Corse Ferrari 499P of Antonio Giovinazzi.
Gamble had finished third on the road, but was then handed a 20-second post-race time penalty for running below the minimum tyre pressures, which dropped the car back to fourth. The second infraction has provisionally moved the Valkyrie down to tenth, pending publication of updated results.
