Vasseur says Ferrari would have done 'practically everything differently' in 2026

Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur has admitted that, with hindsight, he would have done almost everything differently this season, as the Scuderia heads into the final races of the campaign. Ferrari sits second in the constructors' championship but has often fallen behind Red Bull and McLaren on pace in the second half of the year.

Vasseur said the team focuses every Monday on what went wrong, and pointed to the power unit as an area for improvement. Ferrari has been lagging behind Mercedes and Red Bull in internal combustion engine output despite two upgrades this year, the second of which brought the team into line with the rest of the grid on turbo diameter.

Vasseur explained that the team had to choose between introducing a new engine in June, another in September, or focusing on the 2027 model, because it cannot develop three projects in parallel under the budget cap.
