Rafael Camara chosen to replace Esteban Ocon at Haas in 2027
Rafael Camara has been confirmed as Esteban Ocon's replacement at Haas for next season. Ocon's departure had already been announced, as his contract expires at the end of 2026, and the Frenchman has been outpaced by team-mate Ollie Bearman this year.
Camara, 21, is a Brazilian who currently leads the Formula 2 standings in his rookie season, with three feature race wins and a seven-point advantage over Nikola Tsolov with two rounds remaining. He won the 2024 Formula Regional European Championship and took the Formula 3 title at his first attempt in 2025. He is also a member of Ferrari's young driver academy, and Haas has a technical collaboration with Ferrari.
Camara took part in a private Haas test at Portimao in August, alongside Leonardo Fornaroli, Ryo Hirakawa and Jack Doohan. His performance in that test was a key factor in his selection.
