Gasly accepts Mexico GP penalty but calls for consistent yellow flag rulings
Pierre Gasly has accepted the stop-go penalty he received at the Mexico City Grand Prix, which converted to a 30-second time sanction and dropped him out of the points. The Alpine driver was sanctioned for failing to slow sufficiently for double-waved yellow flags after a late-race incident involving Arvid Lindblad and Oscar Piastri.
Gasly said he took full responsibility, explaining that the crash happened directly in front of him and that he had not slowed enough through the affected zone. He also pointed to a marshal panel in turn three that had been showing green and yellow in quick succession, which he said made the situation less straightforward.
While accepting the ruling, Gasly called on the stewards to apply the same standard to every driver. Teammate Franco Colapinto was also judged not to have slowed enough, but received a 10-second penalty because only single yellow flags were being waved for him.
