Racing Bulls boss praises Liam Lawson as 2027 seat remains open

Source: RacingNews365 · · added 5 hours ago

Racing Bulls CEO Peter Bayer has said Liam Lawson has "done everything" to prove himself within the team, with the New Zealander on 83 points after the Mexico City Grand Prix and on course for ninth in the drivers' championship.

Lawson has yet to secure a drive for the 2027 grid, and is reportedly facing competition from Red Bull junior Nikola Tsolov. Bayer said the team's role is to bring new talent into Formula 1 and that the decision rests with Alan, without giving a timeline.

Tsolov, who is fighting for the Formula 2 title, made his F1 weekend debut in Mexico during FP1 and finished the session 12th. Bayer praised his performance, describing his stint as "really great".
