Racing Bulls CEO hints Liam Lawson's future remains uncertain
Racing Bulls CEO Peter Bayer has said the team is a "developer of talent", a comment that suggests Liam Lawson's place for next season is not guaranteed. Lawson has scored 69 of the team's 108 points this season and sits fifth in the Constructors' Championship, but he has yet to secure his future with the team.
During Friday's first practice session at the Mexican Grand Prix, Nikola Tsolov drove in place of Lawson in his debut outing, and Bayer described his performance as "superb". Bayer said the driver decision rests with team principal Alan Permane, who will announce it when he feels the time is right.
Bayer also said it is the general consensus in the paddock that Lawson has done enough to keep his seat, while noting the team has brought 22 drivers into Formula 1.
