Camara says he will focus on controllables ahead of Haas F1 debut

Source: Formula1.com · · added 2 hours ago

Rafael Camara says he will focus on things he can control as he prepares to make his Formula 1 debut with Haas at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, his home event. The Brazilian is stepping in after Esteban Ocon was replaced by Haas during the Mexico City Grand Prix weekend, and Ryo Hirakawa, who was classified 10th on his own debut last weekend, is racing for Toyota in the World Endurance Championship.

Camara, who has already been confirmed with Haas for the 2027 season, said he was trying not to put pressure on himself. He has never driven the Haas 2026 car or the Interlagos circuit before, but he completed simulator work with Ferrari, and the weekend's three one-hour practice sessions will help him get up to speed.

Camara currently leads the Formula 2 standings in his rookie campaign, with two rounds remaining in Qatar and Abu Dhabi. Haas has yet to confirm whether he will race for the team in those events, which Camara described as a matter still to come.
