Bottas says Cadillac board must approve any driver change for 2027

Source: PlanetF1 · · added 2 hours ago

Valtteri Bottas has said that any driver changes at Cadillac must be approved by the board, and that he remains confident he will stay with the team for Formula 1 2027. His seat has been under scrutiny amid a perceived performance gap to team-mate Sergio Perez, particularly in the latter half of the season.

PlanetF1.com understands the American team still favours retaining the Finn for next season. Other options reportedly considered include Colton Herta, who has been given FP1 appearances to earn Super Licence points, and Mercedes reserve Frederick Vesti, who expressed interest after finishing third in FP1 at the Mexico City Grand Prix.

Bottas said he believed the board meeting on the matter had yet to take place and that he was convinced nothing had changed. He also argued that he has not been given a car that allows him to show his best form, saying he has mostly been managing issues.
