Hamilton responds to Vasseur's 'lack of respect' criticism after Mexico City clash

Source: RacingNews365 · · added 2 hours ago

Lewis Hamilton has responded to Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur's comments that his first-lap clash with Charles Leclerc at the Mexico City Grand Prix showed a lack of respect for the team. Vasseur made the remarks in an interview with Canal+ after the Ferrari team-mates lost a chance to win, and possibly finish 1-2, following the collision.

Hamilton said he has always held his team in the highest regard and understands his responsibility to it. He added that the team has many people working hard at the factory, and that he tries to show his appreciation for them. He said he believes he has been a big part of where the team is today.

Hamilton confirmed that the in-depth discussions with the team had not yet taken place ahead of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, with Leclerc having returned to Europe for the birth of his daughter. Asked whether he accepted Vasseur's displeasure, Hamilton said his respect for the team has always been the highest.
