Chandhok maintains Racing Bulls would be wrong to replace Liam Lawson with Nikola Tsolov
Sky Sports F1 pundit Karun Chandhok has reiterated his view that Racing Bulls would be making a mistake by replacing Liam Lawson with Nikola Tsolov for the 2027 season. He says he sees no statistical or performance-based justification for the switch, noting that Lawson is ninth in the drivers' standings and is central to his team's bid for a fifth-place constructors' finish. Tsolov finished runner-up in F3 last year and is second in the F2 standings with two rounds remaining.
Chandhok described dropping Lawson as one of the most unjust sackings in F1 and said Racing Bulls, unlike its earlier incarnation as a feeder team, is now focused on replacing one driver alongside Max Verstappen at Red Bull. He also argued that losing Lawson would remove an experienced reference point for younger drivers such as Arvid Lindblad, leaving no clear benchmark for judging his progress in his second season.
