Antonelli pays tribute to Senna with special Brazilian GP helmet
Mercedes driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli will honour Ayrton Senna at the Brazilian Grand Prix with a special helmet. The design recalls Senna's 1991 win at his home race, when his McLaren lost all gears except sixth in the closing laps, and features a gearbox symbol with sixth gear selected.
Antonelli arrives at Interlagos as world champion for the first time, having clinched the title in Mexico. He described the helmet as a tribute to his idol and to Brazil, unveiling it on his social media channels. The design also includes a nod to his own Italian roots through the tricolour on the visor.
Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel have both previously used their helmets to pay tribute to Senna. Antonelli's admiration for the Brazilian is longstanding, and he chose to race with number 12, which Senna used during his Lotus years.
