Bearman downplays Camara debut as Haas team-mate battle

Source: Formula1.com · · added 1 hour ago

Haas driver Ollie Bearman says the arrival of Rafael Camara at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix does not amount to a shoot-out, describing the Ferrari junior as a team-mate who will push him to raise his level, as Esteban Ocon did.

Camara, who is on course to win the Formula 2 title, is set to make his F1 debut on home soil after Haas confirmed Ocon will not race for them again this year. He has yet to drive a 2026 Haas car, having run an older-spec car in a test. Bearman said the weekend would offer a preview of their dynamic for next season, and that the debut at home was a rare opportunity.

Bearman has failed to finish the last two races, and Audi are now four points behind Haas in the Constructors' Championship. He said the team's goal is to retain seventh place in the standings.
