Colton Herta to replace Sergio Perez in Sao Paulo Grand Prix FP1 for Cadillac
Colton Herta will take Sergio Perez's place in first practice at this weekend's Sao Paulo Grand Prix, as he works towards the 40 points needed on his FIA super licence. Herta took part in FP1 in Mexico City last weekend, but an error with IndyCar's results classifications left him one point short, so a further outing was required.
Cadillac confirmed the change, with Perez having recently signed a contract extension. Herta said he was looking forward to driving the MAC-26 again at Interlagos, and that his goal was to execute the run plan cleanly and provide useful setup data for Perez and the engineers. Team principal Marcin Budkowski praised his growth in the car, describing his feedback as invaluable to the team's 2027 development programme.
