Lietz: Manthey did everything to win LMGT3 title
Richard Lietz said the No. 92 Manthey Porsche crew did "everything we could" to win the WEC LMGT3 title, but came up short despite winning the season-ending 6 Hours of Monza. Lietz, making his 100th series start, teamed with Yasser Shahin and Riccardo Pera for their second consecutive class win and fifth podium from eight races.
Third place for the No. 33 TF Sport Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R of Nicky Catsburg, Ben Keating and Jonny Edgar was enough for Edgar to take the title by eight points. Lietz said a championship with no zero scores was the target, and the team had three.
Lietz was also involved in a late battle with Eduardo Barrichello's Heart of Racing Aston Martin, which he described as more pressure than he had hoped for before the pair spoke after the race.
