Supercars teams criticise 2027 calendar gap around New Zealand

Source: Speedcafe · · added 1 hour ago

Supercars has released a 14-round schedule for 2027 after negotiations over event payments, avoiding a cut to 12 rounds. Team bosses welcomed the number of events but raised concerns about the calendar's structure.

The gaps of around five weeks either side of the New Zealand double-header are a particular concern. The gaps stem from owner RACE switching from air freight to sea freight in 2025 to reduce costs. There is no Australian event from early April to mid-June.

PremiAir's Roland Dane and Erebus Motorsport's Barry Ryan both said they would prefer a more condensed calendar. Supercars has added a standalone Mallala Super2 event on ANZAC weekend, and Phillip Island returns in place of Queensland Raceway.
