Super2 to race at Mallala under lights in April

Source: Speedcafe · · added 3 hours ago

The Super2 Series is expanding to seven rounds next season, the first time since 2019, with a standalone event at Mallala Motorsport Park from April 23 to 25. The circuit, owned by Sam Shahin, will promote the event itself, led by The Bend's Motorsport and Operations Manager, Adam Brook. Racing under lights is planned for the Saturday evening, with daytime racing on the Sunday.

The Sunday falls on ANZAC Day and will include historic aircraft flyovers to mark Mallala's history as a former RAAF base. The event will be a solo driver round under standard Supercars rules, which effectively preclude main game drivers from competing. The undercard is expected to feature Trans Am, Touring Car Masters and Australian Super Trucks.

The timing is intended to help fill the first of two five-week gaps in the main game schedule either side of the New Zealand double-header. Shahin said securing a Supercars category at Mallala fulfilled a pledge he made when he bought the circuit in 2017.
