Ryan and Kostecki reunite for Sandown hot lap

Barry Ryan and Brodie Kostecki came together again for a hot lap at Sandown, after Ryan bid $2500 for the chance to ride with Kostecki in the #17 Dick Johnson Racing Mustang. The lap was part of a Motorsport Ministries fundraiser on the Gold Coast, and it was the first time the pair had shared a car since Kostecki left the Erebus team less than two years earlier.

Ryan spoke of his renewed respect for the cars and drivers after the ride, and recalled winning the championship and Bathurst with Kostecki. Kostecki won the 2023 title with Erebus, then sat out the opening two rounds of the following season amid an apparent rift with Ryan before returning to finish the year and win Bathurst.

Ryan dismissed the idea of ongoing drama between the two, saying they had been texting the week before and that there was no tension between them.
