Verstappen surprised by Red Bull's three wins this year after slow start

Max Verstappen has admitted he is surprised by Red Bull's three victories this season, despite a slow start to the campaign. In the first half of the year he scored the odd podium but could not consistently fight at the front, and he was often heard complaining about the balance of his car.

Verstappen has since enjoyed a much stronger run, finishing on the podium at the last seven grands prix, including three wins. He credited the team after his victory in Mexico, saying: "This is a hugely positive step in the right direction as we head to the final few races."

Ahead of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix at Interlagos, where he has won three times, Verstappen said he hopes for another solid weekend and will wear a special helmet design.
