Perez backs experience as Cadillac weighs Bottas and Herta for 2027
Sergio Perez has said that experience is key for Cadillac's 2027 line-up, as the team considers Valtteri Bottas and Colton Herta for the second seat. Perez, who has already signed a new deal, said he gets on well with Herta and that both deserve the opportunity, but said Bottas has been doing a good job and has been unlucky in recent races.
Herta has earned the points needed for his F1 super licence by completing 100km of clean running in FP1 at Interlagos, having completed six FP1 sessions this year. Perez said it is hard for a driver to show their talent in FP1 outings alone, making the decision difficult for the team.
Perez also said Cadillac does not need his feedback on drivers, adding that all he wants is a new team-mate who will push the team forward.
