Bottas unconcerned by Herta threat at Cadillac
Valtteri Bottas says he is not worried about Cadillac's efforts to secure a Formula 1 superlicence for Colton Herta, insisting nothing has changed in the assurances he has received about his 2027 seat. He said he expects to remain with the team next season and that he has heard nothing to suggest otherwise.
Herta is due to take over Sergio Perez's Cadillac in Friday's opening practice session in Sao Paulo, which would bring him to the 40-point threshold needed for the superlicence. Bottas said the team's interest makes sense because a missed superlicence this year would make it almost impossible to obtain later, and that the points earned from Herta's 2024 IndyCar finish would be at risk otherwise.
Bottas said the team has told him it does not want to change anything, adding that he hopes Cadillac's approach is simply a precaution rather than a sign of plans for next year.
