Norris says F1's battery deployment limit is ruining racing

Source: F1i.com · · added 2 hours ago

McLaren driver Lando Norris has criticised the battery deployment restrictions in Formula 1's 2026 regulations, arguing that they undermine overtaking. He said he had struggled to attack Ferrari's Charles Leclerc at the Mexico City Grand Prix, because the energy limit meant both cars were held to essentially the same maximum speed, regardless of the benefit of a slipstream.

Norris said the limiter stops a driver from using a tow to gain an advantage, so it does not matter how close a driver is behind. He called on the sport to improve the rules for next season and said the top speed could be raised simply by making the limiter higher, rather than through changes to the power units.
