Norris hopeful McLaren upgrades will close gap to rivals
Lando Norris has said he hopes McLaren's upgrades for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix will help the team return to the podium, though he does not expect sudden wins. The MCL40 has brought sweeping changes at Interlagos as McLaren looks to recover ground after a five-race run without a podium, which has seen it drop behind Red Bull to third in the Constructors' Championship.
Norris said recent Sunday pace had not been too bad and that the team had not been miles away from better results. He pointed to drivability, the difficulty of driving the car, as one of its biggest weaknesses at present. Both he and Oscar Piastri have been outspoken about how hard the MCL40 is to drive when it slips outside its operating window, and Norris acknowledged the upgrades could add to that challenge.
More parts are due to arrive at the next round in Las Vegas.
