Lando Norris eager for F1 rewards as McLaren struggles for consistent pace

Source: RacingNews365 · · added 1 hour ago

Lando Norris says he is still driving at a high level but is not being rewarded as he was earlier in the season. He won in Hungary and the Netherlands after taking pole position at both events, and took pole in Madrid before a VSC period cost him the lead.

Since then, Norris has been vocal about the difficulties of the McLaren MCL40, which he says struggles in slow-speed corners, on corner entry and with drag, partly due to shorter gear ratios that the team chose not to change this season. He equalled his best result since Spain with third place in Mexico City, battling Ferrari's Charles Leclerc before being unable to get past.

Norris said the car's performance has been inconsistent, and that McLaren needs to improve it at certain tracks. He added that he does not want to rely on hope and luck, and that the team knows what it needs to work on, which will take time.
