Norris narrowly tops Antonelli in Interlagos first practice

Source: RaceFans · · added 13 minutes ago

Lando Norris put McLaren at the top of the first practice session for the Brazilian Grand Prix, edging out Andrea Kimi Antonelli by less than a tenth of a second. Max Verstappen, who began his soft-tyre run early, was two tenths behind in third. Lewis Hamilton ensured four different constructors filled the top four places, though he was among several drivers to lock up at the first corner and run wide.

Six junior drivers took part in the session. Gabriele Mini was the quickest of them, placing his Alpine seventh, while Gabriel Bortoleto set the eighth-fastest time for Audi in front of his home crowd. Freddie Slater's session was disrupted when he stopped after barely 10 minutes, triggering a red flag.

Williams limited Luke Browning to 12 laps to save mileage on its parts, while Colton Herta logged 31 laps for Cadillac, which should give him enough superlicence points to race in F1.
