Camara reveals expectations ahead of Haas F1 debut at Interlagos
Rafael Camara will make his Formula 1 debut with Haas at Interlagos, his home Grand Prix, after the team confirmed Esteban Ocon would no longer take part in the 2026 campaign. Camara, the reigning Formula 3 champion and current Formula 2 title contender, said he was very surprised by the call-up and grateful to the team for its trust.
Camara described the chance to race at home as a positive opportunity and said his focus is on learning as much as he can, concentrating on his responsibilities and enjoying the weekend. He said having team-mate Oliver Bearman alongside him, who also made an unexpected debut in 2024, would be valuable for learning.
Haas team principal Ayo Komatsu is expected to keep demands on the rookie realistic, given the short notice of the promotion.
