Antonelli visits Senna's grave ahead of Sao Paulo Grand Prix

Source: Crash.net · · added 1 hour ago

Andrea Kimi Antonelli visited Ayrton Senna's grave in Sao Paulo for the first time as Formula 1 world champion, ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix. He has made the visit a tradition, having also gone there last year. Senna, who died in a crash at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, was Antonelli's childhood idol.

Antonelli clinched his maiden title last weekend after finishing third in Mexico City, making him F1's youngest-ever world champion at 20. He plans to run a special helmet design in tribute to Senna in Brazil, marking 35 years since Senna's first win there.

Antonelli has confirmed he will keep the number 12 for his 2027 title defence rather than switch to number 1. He said the number is special to him, helps him stay grounded, and that he is superstitious about the number 1.
