Antonelli flags Turn 1 bumps as Sao Paulo GP challenge
Kimi Antonelli has said the bumps under braking at Turn 1 will be a challenge for drivers all weekend at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. He finished second and first in the two Friday practice sessions, though both were affected by drivers running wide while locking up for the first downhill left of the Senna S.
The bumps, combined with low tyre temperatures, made braking difficult, and drivers who had to cut across the run-off ruined their laps. Antonelli said he was trying to find the right balance with brake pressure, but at times he was applying too much.
Antonelli felt his Mercedes W17 still needed work on longer runs, though he was positive about his single-lap pace and his chances in qualifying, where he said the field is very close.
