Vasseur says Ferrari driver guidelines unchanged after Mexico
Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur has not changed the rules governing how Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton race each other, despite their defeat by Max Verstappen at the Mexican Grand Prix. Ferrari had led at the start before the two drivers went wheel to wheel for the lead on the first lap, allowing Verstappen to take advantage. Hamilton accused Leclerc of costing the team a one-two finish by challenging him too robustly.
Vasseur said the team had failed collectively and that a meeting had reminded both drivers to put Ferrari first. He said he had not issued new instructions on how the pair should engage on track, adding that the existing guidelines still apply and that they must respect each other, the team and the brand.
Vasseur suggested frustration had built up because the drivers start each weekend side by side.
