Waters primed for all-out attack at Sandown on Sunday
Tickford Racing driver Will Waters finished third in the Saturday semi-final opener at Sandown, leaving him a single point below the cut line for the Grand Final. He is currently level with Broc Feeney and Chaz Mostert on the cut line position and needs to outscore one or both of them on Sunday to progress on points alone, or win the race to secure a place.
Waters said he would be going on full attack, adding that the team looked stronger on the soft tyre. He had run second in the early stint before being passed by Brodie Kostecki, then took the lead late in the race before losing ground to Will Payne and later coming under pressure from Mostert. Mostert briefly passed him after a contact at Turn 4 but gave the place back when he expected a penalty.
Waters said front-running car speed was the key difference from last year, when he needed to move forward on the Sunday and was knocked out after a clash with Payne.
