Supercars teams agree new charter deal after 18-month talks

Source: Speedcafe · · added 55 minutes ago

Supercars and its teams have agreed new charter terms, which will make 14 rounds the baseline for each season. The deal was negotiated by a four-man panel comprising Brett Ralph, Matt Stone, Brad Jones and Walkinshaw, and was reached in two financial models split across the teams according to their preference.

Seven teams, Dick Johnson Racing, Walkinshaw TWG Racing, Brad Jones Racing, Matt Stone Racing, Tickford Racing, Blanchard Racing Team and Team 18, signed up to a deal that pays less per year but includes an equity bonus when Supercars owner RACE decides to sell the business. The remaining five teams, Triple Eight, Grove Racing, Objective Racing, Erebus Motorsport and PremiAir Racing, will receive a higher yearly payment.

Walkinshaw described the agreement as a defining moment in the sport and said the process had taken over 18 months of negotiation. The 2027 calendar was released on Thursday following the deal.
