BRT crew rebuilds fire-damaged Ford overnight for Cameron
Cameron's #3 Mustang was badly damaged after it caught fire during the Saturday race, forcing him out early. The team believed the blaze stemmed from earlier contact that folded the exhaust tip onto the side skirt.
Rather than send the car back to its nearby workshop in Box Hill, BRT chose to carry out the repair at the circuit. Up to a dozen staff worked through the night to have the car ready for qualifying at 11:20am on Sunday.
Cameron praised the effort, saying the crew had not slept and that the fire had caused extensive damage and cleaning work. He said he was grateful to be back on track and now wanted to get the car to the front.
