Tickford unveils Bathurst 1000 throwback livery for Mustang
Tickford Racing has revealed a throwback Castrol livery for its Mustang, chosen by fans in an online vote. The winning design is the one Mark Winterbottom and Steven Richards ran at Mount Panorama under the Ford Performance Racing banner. That car came close to winning the Bathurst 1000 before a crash at The Chase ended their challenge with 14 laps remaining.
The modern version carries Ford's falcon on the rear quarter panels and brings back Orrcon Steel Manufacturing as a sponsor. It is the third tribute livery Randle has raced at the Sandown 500, following the sawtooth scheme and a TOM's Racing Toyota Supra-inspired design.
Randle said driving a Tickford-run car with the livery, albeit a Mustang this time, was very exciting, while Richards said the 2007 combined Castrol and Orrcon livery had been popular with fans.
