Sao Paulo extends Formula 1 deal to stay on calendar until 2035
Formula 1 has finalised a five-year contract extension that keeps the Sao Paulo Grand Prix at Interlagos on the calendar through 2035. The circuit has hosted racing for more than half a century and has produced six Drivers' Championship deciders, including titles for Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton.
Attendance at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix reached 303,627 spectators in 2025, up from 291,717 the previous year. The event injected R$2.3 billion into the local economy in 2025, a 9.7% rise on the previous record set in 2024. Brazil's national F1 audience has also grown, reaching 75.8 million.
Stefano Domenicali, Formula 1's President and CEO, said the extension underlines the sport's long-term commitment to Brazil. The city's mayor, Ricardo Nunes, is committing municipal funds to ongoing modernisation of the ageing circuit.
