Perez receives warning from Sao Paulo stewards over thrown part
Sergio Perez has been given a formal warning by the Sao Paulo Grand Prix stewards after he threw a cable organiser out of his Cadillac during final practice at Interlagos. The stewards cited him for alleged driving in an unsafe condition after reviewing in-car footage of the incident late in the hour-long session.
Over the radio, Perez told his race engineer, Carlo Pasetti, that something had come off, which he believed was a small box from where the radio cables were routed. The stewards determined that the item was a plastic cable organiser that typically attaches to the seat belt, and that Perez had discarded it because he was concerned it could lodge elsewhere in the car and create a safety issue.
The stewards acknowledged that the piece was small and light and unlikely to cause damage or injury, but said that throwing materials onto the track during a live session is not appropriate.
