Mercedes reclaim constructors' title as Wolff matches Williams
Mercedes has regained the Formula 1 Constructors' Championship, ending a four-year wait, despite a difficult afternoon at Interlagos where George Russell and Kimi Antonelli finished fourth and fifth behind race winner Lando Norris. With three rounds remaining, the team had an unassailable lead over Ferrari.
The title gave team principal Toto Wolff his ninth Constructors' Championship, drawing him level with the late Sir Frank Williams on the sport's all-time list of team principals. Wolff said he never thought such a comparison was possible, and he credited the Brawn personnel who helped win the 2009 title.
Mercedes' return follows a period in which new regulations introduced in 2022 ended its run of eight consecutive constructors' titles between 2014 and 2021. Russell and Antonelli both spun during Sunday's race, but their combined points were enough to secure the championship.
