Lawson questions Leclerc's move in São Paulo Grand Prix
Liam Lawson says Racing Bulls will review the contact that allowed Charles Leclerc to pass him in the closing stages of the São Paulo Grand Prix. Leclerc's Ferrari tapped the left-rear wheel of Lawson's car, and both drivers have been summoned to see the stewards. Leclerc finished seventh, less than two seconds ahead of Lawson, who took eighth.
Lawson said he believed the wing of Leclerc's car had hit his tyre and that he had been fortunate not to suffer significant damage. He compared the move to Leclerc's 2017 manoeuvre on Alex Albon at the hairpin in Abu Dhabi, saying he had seen a similar approach from Leclerc, and added that he did not know whether it was legal.
Earlier, Lawson had made a strong start to move into second place and had pressed race leader Kimi Antonelli, but said the Racing Bulls pace fell away once the Mercedes-powered cars settled, and that his tyres were wearing more than theirs.
