Lawson weighs Racing Bulls set-up as Interlagos rain looms
Liam Lawson has explained the dilemma facing Racing Bulls ahead of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, with rain forecast for Interlagos on Sunday. Lawson was 10th in the first practice session on Friday but dropped to 13th in FP2, behind team-mate Arvid Lindblad, after the team tried a set-up direction that induced too much understeer.
Because drivers must carry their qualifying set-up into the race, a configuration suited to the dry conditions expected in FP3 and qualifying may not translate if the rain arrives. Lawson said the team would likely revert to something similar to its stronger FP1 car and then assess the weather. He also noted that preparing tyres for a lap was difficult in the cold, with short warm-up laps and traffic in the pit lane affecting Turn 1, especially in Q1.
